Brain Stretching Math Riddles for the Whole Family

This book is the second in a series of riddles books. It is a collection of 150 brain teasing math riddles and puzzles. Their purpose is to make children think and stretch the mind. They are designed to test logic, lateral thinking as well as memory and to engage the brain in seeing patterns and connections between different things and circumstances.

They are laid out in three chapters which get more difficult as you go through the book, in the author’s opinion at least. The answers are at the back of the book if all else fails.

These are more difficult riddles and are designed to be attempted by children from 10 years onwards, as well as participation and support from the rest of the family.

Title: Great for those who love math.
Review: I have one child who doesn’t particularly love reading but loves math and riddles. It was the perfect book to combine something he didn’t love with something he did.

Title: Challenging and entertaining.
Review: Our 8 year old granddaughter is always telling jokes and loves hearing our jokes. In a time where online videos seem to be the most common entertainment for children, this book was a great break from that. Instead of taking her tablet in the car on long rides, she is now bringing her joke books (we got a few) and the rides are much more interactive and entertaining. Plus it’s a boost to her reading and math skills. I definitely recommend this, especially for trips and long rides.

Review: The strength of this excellent book is the sheer breadth of difficulty from the obvious (which three numbers give the same result if they are added or multiplied?) to Cambridge tripos level brain fryers.
